Egg Nog?
"Then along comes late afternoon--4o'clock? 5o'clock?. . . a time in which she thought of as yellow spent time because if time is to be filled or spent by working, eating, or sleeping, what do you do when you finish and there is time left over?" --Walker Percy

Dancing and Dinner
This last week I made a pre-Thanksgiving Feast with two of my favorite people. While we waited for the duck to finish and the other guests to arrive, we decided dancing would be a good way to fill the time. . .

Day 30
Well, friends. We've reached the end. At least for now. Perhaps I will start one of those crazy 365 photo a day things. . . I may need help with suggestions though. I'm always open to suggestions. :)
Anyways, heres the last photo. For this challenge that is.

Day next to last
Black & White
I know I kind of cheated here. But I just learned how to do this trick so I'm a little excited. Also, Madelyn informed us a few weeks ago that she would be having a Belle themed birthday party this weekend, so it didn't seem right that the dress should be black and white. . .
Day 28
Hands
Uncle Jeremy was nice enough to have a tea party with the girls this weekend.

Dear Followers
I feel I should inform you, mostly so I can feel better about my own mistakes and forgetfulness, that the last few photos for this 30 day challenge will be be postponed for the weekend. In my rush to leave for the weekend, I forgot the right equipment which enables me to post. My apologies. I will post the last few photos as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,

Day 24
This is my cat. Her name is Bridget, but we sometimes call her "Pokey" because she doesn't know how to retract her claws all the way. She's kind of ornery. She refused to have her picture taken-- it was kind of like trying to photograph a two year old. But she's very soft. . . and can be very nice. When she wants to. . .
. . . she also thinks she owns the house.

Day 22
Bokeh
I won't lie, I was not excited about this assignment; I even switched this with another day so I could put off doing it. I'm not sure why I wasn't excited about it--probably just because Greenville goes to sleep with the sun every night and there are no lights. Anywhere. So I had to create my own.
Using a bike light a completely open aperture and a relatively slow shutter speed, this is what I came up with.

Day 18
Shoes
Goodbye good and faithful shoes. You were truly awesome and wonderful and I am very sorry you were un-fixable. Know that you were greatly loved. So long.

Day 16
Long Exposure
My first attempt at this. Apparently my job for this week will be finding/making some better lights. These were taken with a 18-55mm at f/4 and 20sec exposure. Since I have no flash I just used a halogen bike light. . . Even after reading tons of sites and "how to's" on this stuff I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. . .
Day 15
Well. Yesterday was supposed to be silhouettes. And not only did I totally forget to do it yesterday, but today when I went out, I kind of failed. But here's what I got. I did learn some valuable lessons today though. 1) timing is everything when it comes to natural lighting. 2) long skirt + flats+ overgrown field = irritation. and 3) self portraits without my remote are much more difficult than they need to be. . .

Day 13
[taken with my 18-55 at f/5.2 and 1/8s using just the kitchen lights]
I'm not sure that these items have anything in common except that if you were to some how manage to make a meal including vanilla, blackberry jam, pureed pumpkin, anchovies, graham crackers, box mac-n-cheese, black beans, clams, Nutella, pickled asparagus, wild rice and whole wheat penne, you might be in need of some Citrucel.

Day 11
"Mr. Blue I told you that I love you, please believe me. Mr. Blue I have to go now, darling please believe me. . . Mr. Blue don't hold your head so low that you can't see the sky."

Day 10
Do you remember when those logs allowed us to sit in the sky? Do you remember how we would race each other up there? How we could sit up there for hours with nothing but sunshine and Legos? Do you remember? We were much younger then. Yet I don't feel so old or grown up now. . . Are we grown?

The remains of our fort.

Day 9

Day 8
Bad Habits
I have a bad habit (along with getting behind on my own schedule. Sorry--I'm about to put up three days of photos) of biting my fingers when I get anxious.

Day 7
Fruit Smoothie!
Take one fresh peach, a few frozen strawberries, blackberries, yogurt and a little vanilla. Shoot with a 50 mm using all natural lighting between f/4 and f/1.8. Mix in blender until it reaches a smooth consistency. Add a straw, finish with your favorite/simple editing techniques and enjoy. :)

Day4: Clouds
Tip of the Day: The perfect ice cream depends not just on the cream or the milk, but on the alcohol.
Today's assignment was simply "clouds." Shot with a 50mm at f/22 and 1/350.

Day 2
I know. I'm not off to a very good start with all of this. Three days in and I'm already two days behind. I know. At any rate, here's yesterday's challenge: "what I wore today."
Day 1
A thought occurred to me the other day as I perused various photography sites that I, too, was capable of doing one of the ubiquitous "photo a day" challenges. ("Is this what four o'clock in the afternoon is for?"). So here I am. And here I, and my photos, shall frequent for at least the next month.
